Introducing the Gold's Gym Fit Test

January 23, 2015

In honor of our 50th Anniversary, we're debuting a simple 5-exercise test that can be done in 10 minutes to get your "Fit Score."

To celebrate our 50th Anniversary, Gold's Gym is creating a new fitness standard for America. The Gold's Gym Fit Test is a simple 5-exercise test that you can take in just 10 minutes to assess your fitness level and generate your Fit Score. Your Fit Score can be used to track your health the way other key wellness numbers like body-fat percentages and cholesterol are used. The five exercises included on the test are crunches, push-ups, pull-ups (for males), bent arm hangs (for females), squats and a bench step test.

Instructions for how to take the test are all available on the Fit Test widget at goldsgym.com/fit-test. The Fit Score indicates your level of physical fitness compared with Americans of your same age range and gender and lets you know what percentile you fall into from 0 to 98%:

90-98% – GOLD STANDARD
70-89% – VERY GOOD
56-69% – GOOD
45-55% – AVERAGE
20-44% – FAIR
0-19% – NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

We encourage everyone to take the free Fit Test at home or at a Gold's Gym, then share your Fit Score and badge on Facebook or Twitter and challenge your friends to take the test as well. Then take the test every four weeks to measure your fitness progress.

We hope that this kind of knowledge can motivate people who might have lapsed in their exercise routines, propel average exercisers to aim for a higher tier and congratulate the most committed fitness lovers by giving them the Gold Standard badge.

The Fit Test was created with data gathered from Gold's Gym's leading experts, the Gold's Gym Fitness Institute and research and data from top health institutes and experts around the country. The Fit Test is just one of the many initiatives that we're launching to commemorate our 50th Anniversary. Stay tuned for even more great fitness resources that we believe will help the world become fitter, happier and healthier in 2015 and beyond!
