Yoga or Pilates, Which One Is Best?

It looks the same but it’s different, most people tend to think that yoga and pilates are basically the same things. Well, they’re not. True that yoga and pilates are two exercises that combine your body and mind, but yoga also has “soul” in it. Yoga is derived from the sanskrit root yuj which means “to attach, join, unite”. To unite with nature, or to unite with the creator. Thus making someone who does yoga experience a spiritual journey through meditation. While pilates is a good exercise for your body and mind that will be very beneficial for your day-to-day activities.

Yoga

1. Super effective to reduce stress. When you get so much on your plate, high workload, college stuff, or any little things that make your days turn really bad, yoga can help make your stress go away. Try a yoga routine everyday, your bad days and negative emotions will be gone in no time.

2. Yoga helps you sleep better. After making yoga as a routine, it will be easier for you to fall asleep and sleep well. You will also feel more fresh when you wake up. Doing yoga will release hormone that make you sleep better at night.

Pilates

1. Pilates is great for improving body posture. If you’ve been experiencing pains in some body parts, such as back, waist, or shoulder, make pilates into routine and it will give you long lasting relief from postural pains and strains

2. Improve balance and body flexibility. It is proven that pilates is one of the best ways to improve your balance if you’ve been having problems with balance. Most pilates movements focus on abdominal muscle.


The fact is, both yoga and pilates have their own adventages. Adding both of them into your routine will give you so many benefits, for your body and mind. If you can have benefits from both of them, then why choose? Don’t forget to make time for yourself to do yoga and pilates to have a balanced body, mind, and soul.
